Carl F. Haury Jr.

Carl F. Haury, Jr., 73, Halstead, died Monday, July 30, 2001, at Halstead Hsopital, Halstead.

He was born Nov. 11, 1927, at Halstead, the son of Carl F. Sr. and Clara A. Banze Haury.

He was valedictorian of the 1945 graduating class from Halstead High School, and captain of the football team his senior year. He attended college at Emporia.

On Jan. 9, 1951, he married Norma Jean Brownlee. She preceded him in death March 1, 1976.

He was a lifetime resident of Halstead where he was a farmer and was the former Halstead Hospital laundry manager. He belonged to the First Mennonite Church, Halstead.

Survivors include a son, Rick Haury, Wamego; two daughters, Ruth Alexander and Monica Flask, both of Halstead; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald W. Haury and a sister, Ruth M. Roper.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at the First Mennonite Church, Halstead, with Rev. Cleo Koop and Rev. Loris Habegger. Burial will be in the Halstead Cemetery. Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead, will be in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Kansas Learning Center for Health or First Mennonite Church, medical fund, both of Halstead, in care of the funeral home.
