PETER F. HARDER

Peter F. Harder, well known resident and farmer of the Waldheim, Sask. district, died Aug. 18, 1966 at the age of 63 years, nine months and 16 days, at the University Hospital, Saskatoon.

He was born in Lehigh, Kan. on Nov. 2, 1902 to Isbrandt and Anna (Friesen) Harder. In 1918 the Isbrandt Harder family left Kansas to take up farming at Waldheim. On Sept. 21, 1930, he married Katherina Loewen and continued farming in the Waldheim area until his retirement.

At the age of 18 he was involved in an accident which in later years caused much suffering. He suffered his first heart attack in July 1965 and consequently retired to Waldheim in April of this year. He felt sufficietly [sic] well to attend the church convention at Meade, Kan. this July.

On Aug. 11 he was admitted to Rosthern Union Hospital with severe abdominal pains. He suffered another heart attack Sunday, Aug. 14, and was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit in University Hospital, Saskatoon. After much suffering he was called Home on Aug. 18 at 3 a.m.

He received Christ as his personal Saviour under the ministry of Rev. D. M. Hoffer in March 1916. He was baptized June 24, 1917 by Rev. Peter A. Weibe and received into the Springfield K.M.B. Church at Lehigh, Kan. He was active in community and church affairs, serving as Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, and church council member.

He was a loving husband and father, deeply concerned about the spiritual welfare of his family and the surrounding community. He worked selflessly to ensure that his children would receive an education.

He leaves behind his wife Katherina; two daughters, Ethel and husband David Wiens of Waldheim; Reneta and husband Arthur Dickman of Saskatoon; five sons, Samuel and wife Hazel of Saskatoon, Arthur and wife MaryAnn of Waldheim, Harry, Earl and Vernon, all of Waldheim; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Tina of Illinois and Elizabeth of South Dakota; two brothers, David of Vancouver and Ben of Waldheim. — Katherina Harder and the Children.
