Peter Gunther

Our husband and father Peter Gunther has finished his life's course. It has pleased our heavenly Father, who is Lord of life and death, to take home our father on the 17th of November of this year. He passed away at Corn, Okla., peaceful, almost unnoticed by the one watching at his bedside. He fell asleep in the Lord.

Concerning the history of his life the following can be said: Our father was born in Ladekop, South Russia, in the year 1847, on the 5th of September. The years of his youth were spent in the home of his parents in the village of Prangenau.

In the year 1873 he entered holy matrimony with Margaret Peters of Landskron.

in the year 1884 he and his family came to America and made settlement in Boone County, Nebraska. Here in the year 1891 in January it was when our mother was taken out of our midst through death.

This union was blessed with eleven children, of whom three have gone on before.

In the year 1892 in January our father moved to Butler County, Kansas, and here for the second time he entered into holy matrimony with Katharina Isaak. So we children were blessed with a mother again. According to the diary kept by our father this marriage was a happy one. This union was also blessed with eleven children of whom four have gone on before.

The 8th of November in the year 1911 our second mother was taken from our side. So father was again left alone with a number of children. through god's leading he found a helpmate again. So in the year 1914, the 10th of January he married the widow Mrs. Maria Ratzlaff, who then resided at Buhler, Kansas.

In his 35th year of his life he was converted and received the forgiveness of sin. In 1882, the 11th of June, while yet in Russia, he was baptized and taken into the M. B. church, whose faithful member he has been unto death.

He reached the age of 80 years, 2 months and 11 days.
