Ohio Youth Killed In Vietnam War

Kidron, Ohio. — Funeral services were held at the Kidron Mennonite Church on Aug. 29 for Sgt. Leroy Gerber, 21, who was killed Aug. 21 while serving with the First Air Cavalry in Vietnam.

The young man was born at Wooster on June 22, 1946 to Roy and Lillie (Nussbaum) Gerber. He was a graduate of Central Christian High School here and attended Bluffton College before entering military service in March 1966. He was a faithful attendant at the Kidron Mennonite Church and active in youth activities there.

Surviving are his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Orren Zuercher (the father died when Leroy was four weeks old), a brother, Frederick of Orrville, and half-brother, John David, of the home; his grandmother, Mrs. Metta Nussbaum, and step-grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Isaac Zuercher.
