MRS. JACOB L. FRIESEN

Helena Toews Friesen, the first child of Jacob F. and Helena Lohrenz Toews, was born in Midway Township, Cottonwood County, Minn., Sept 15, 1889. She received her education in the rural schools in Midway township and attended the Mt. Lake Bible School.

On May 28, 1908 she was baptized and received into the Bethel Mennonite Church by Rev. H. H. Regier.

On Sept. 25, 1912 she was married to Jacob L. Friesen. To this union two daughters and three sons were born. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Friesen farmed in Midway Township about three years, then moved to Montana where they farmed for three years. They returned to Minnesota and farmed the Friesen home farm in Butterfield Township, Watonwan County for 35 years. In 1956 they retired from farming and moved to Mt. Lake. On Apr. 22 of this year she was admitted to Bethel hospital. Here she passed away July 10, attaining the age of 77 years, nine months and 25 days.

She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Rosella) Dick, St. Peter, Minn.; three sons, Arno J of rural Mt. Lake, Jacob T. of Bluffton, Ohio and Elmer G. of rural Bingham Lake; her aged mother, Mrs. J. F. Toews, Mt. Lake; three brothers, Jacob J. Toews, Mt. Lake, Gerhard Toews, Salem, Ore., and Rudolph Toews, Marion, S. D.; one sister, Mrs. John S. Friesen, Mt. Lake; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, one daughter, Eveline (Mrs. John Friesen); one sister, Marie Toews Warkentin; one brother, Nic. J. Toews; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
