John W. Eilert

John W. Eilert, 84-year-old retired farmer, died shortly after five a. m., Monday, May 27 at Axtell Christian hospital. Mr. Eilert had been in poor health for sometime and was removed to the hospital three days ago.

A native of Jacksonville, Ill., where he was born August 15, 1861, Mr. Eilert moved to Kansas and farmed in this vicinity for a number of years. In addition to his wife, Adline Sarah, to whom he was married for 65 years, Mr. Eilert is survived by the following children: John Eilert and Mrs. Mona Brewer, both of Newton; Mrs. Mabel Jordon of Elkalka, Mont.; Mrs. Virgil Todd of Kansas City, Mo.; Burt Eilert of Farrington, Wyo., and Clayton Eilert of Camp Crook, S. Dak.

Brothers and sisters surviving include: Henry, Ed, Otto, Emil and Walter Eilert, and Mrs. Edith Barker and Mrs. Selma Patterson, all of Furley; Mrs. Hilkie Hupp of Whittier, Calif.; Louis Eilert of Wichita, and C. A. Eilert of Fredonia.

Three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Clara Buschor, Mrs. Mary Cook, Mrs. Kate Patterson and Albert Eilert, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at three o'clock at the Draper Funeral chapel and burial will be in the Sunnydale cemetery, southeast of Newton.
