CHARTER MEMBER AND TREASURER OF MISSION BOARD PASSED AWAY

Intercourse, Pa. — Funeral services took place at the Paradise meetinghouse recently for Sem Eby, 69, who had served as deacon of this large congregation since 1931.

A lifelong resident of Lancaster county, Bro. Eby early in life developed an interest in mission work among the colored people of the Welsh mountains. He became a charter member of the Eastern Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities, which was incorporated in 1916, and served as treasurer of that body from 1933 until last Dec. 31. He gave his final treasurer’s report on March 11 and suffered a heart attack the following day.

His wife, Naomi, and several children and grandchildren survive.
