Students at Bluffton (Ohio) College and Goshen (Ind.) College died within a day of each other after being stricken in separate unrelated incidents in college dormitories in early November.
Dan Purdy, 19, a Bluffton sophomore from New Bremen, Ohio, was pronounced dead Nov. 5 as a result of burns he suffered in a fire of undetermined origin at Bren-Dell Hall Nov. 1. The dormitory houses 98 students but the blaze was confined to one room.
Funeral services were held for him at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, New Bremen.
Ingrid Curry, 19, a second-year nursing student from Harrisonburg, Va., died Nov. 6 at Goshen General Hospital after suffering a sudden pulmonary embolism while talking with two other students in her Westlawn dormitory room. She had been under treatment for several small broken bones in her foot as the result of a near traffic accident.
