AGANETHA BLOCK

Aganetha Block of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away Mar. 16. She was born June 21, 1908 to John and Katherine Peters in Hochfeld, USSR. In 1924 the family immigrated to Mexico, where she accepted the Lord. In 1926 they immigrated to Rush Lake, Sask. She re-established contact with Peter Block; they married Nov. 27, 1927. They lived in Herbert, Sask. They were baptized and joined Herbert MB Church, where they had their first experiences of service and fellowship. They were poor but happy. In 1937 they moved to Swan River, Man. A farmer at heart, she enjoyed milking cows and tending her garden. Seven years later they moved to Yarrow, B.C., where they had a beautiful home and garden. In 1951 they moved to Clearbrook, where Peter operated a service station. They were involved in various church ministries; she belonged to a ladies' singing group that served at funerals and other occasions. She showed strength of character during Peter's 2 heart attacks, learning to drive so she could visit him in hospital. Peter died in 1979. She stood up well to the loneliness, growing beautiful roses. She spent her last 5 years in Tabor Manor. She seldom complained, was thankful for her care and looked forward to meeting her Lord. Predeceased by her husband, son John and 2 sisters, she is mourned by her children Erna of Prince George, B.C., Dora Friesen of Clearbrook and Ernie of Prince George; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 brother and 1 sister. The funeral was Mar. 21 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, with J.E. Klassen, John C. Dyck and Peter Dueck ministering.
