DAVID PAUL BERGEN

David Paul Bergen of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away Mar. 27, at age 91. He was born to Isaak and Katrina Bergen in southern Russia. In 1921 the family immigrated to Saskatchewan, where they began a legacy of attachment to the land. His innate mechanical abilities gave him many career opportunities. He and his wife Sara were baptized Aug. 22, 1954 and became active members of the Rosthern (Sask.) Church. He is remembered as a man of gentleness and quick wit. He only truly retired when they moved to Clearbrook in 1985 and joined Clearbrook MB Church. He could not often attend church because of his health, but attended Bible studies and song services in Evergreen Village and made many friends. He longed to go home and be with his Lord. Predeceased by a sister and 2 brothers, he is mourned by his wife of 56 years; daughter Lillian Dyck of Port Alberni, B.C.; son Dallas of Calgary; and 3 grandchildren. The funeral was Apr. 2 in Clearbrook MB Church, with John E. Klassen and Jacob Pauls ministering.
