MARIA BERG

Funeral services were held in the Coaldale (Alta.) Mennonite Brethren Church on August 31 for the late Mrs. Maria Berg who passed away in August 27. Rev. D. J. Pankratz, officiating at the service, read John 11:25,26 for the invocation and in his message drew a striking analogy between physical and spiritual death as implied in the words, "but death part thee and me," (Ruth 1:15-17). Rev H. P. Nikel referred to Paul's testimony in 2 Tim. 4:6-8 as a victorious past, peaceful present and blissful future. Rev. J. J. Siemens conducted the graveside service.

Mrs. Berg was born May 24, 1887 in Fuerstenwerder, South Russia. In 1909 she married Isaac Berg and in 1925 emigrated to Canada. While resident in Coaldale, Mrs. Berg found Christ as her Savior and upon her confession of faith was baptized and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church. The last four years of her life she spent in the Home for the Aged and at the time of her departure she was in the Coaldale Hospital.

Mourning her passing are three daughters and their husbands, two sons and their wives, 27 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
