			Mary Ensz Schmidt was born Oct. 14, 1886 in Marion County, Kan., to Henry and Anna Bergman Ensz. She passed away Nov. 27, 1982 at the age of 96.

			She received her education in both English and German at a country school. Due to her father's poor health her schooling was terminated early. Her mother died when she was seven and her father when she was 14.

			She was baptized on Dec 26, 1904 and joined the Johannestal Mennonite Church at Hillsboro. She became a nurse and served in the Bethesda Hospital at Goessel as well as a private nurse in various homes.

			On Jan. 17, 1913 she was married to David J. Schmidt by Elder P.H. Richert. In 1914 they moved to Dubois, Idaho, where they homesteaded until 1919 when they moved to the Aberdeen area. They farmed until 1943 when they moved to town. She was a faithful member of the First Mennomte Church in Aberdeen.

			They shared 60 years of marriage before her husband died in 1973. A daughter, Evangeline, died at birth in 1927. Two sons-in-law also preceded her in death.

			Surviving are her two daughters, Esther Schritter and Ruth and her husband Henry Wiebe; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

			Services were held on Nov 30 at the First Mennomte Church with Ben Rahn officiating. Burial was in the Homestead Cemetery

Dead are five children of the Ammon Sauder family: Leon, 10; Ammon, 6; Ellen, 5; Loren, 2; and Wilmer, six months.

The fire began in the kitchen in the early morning hours as a furnace, which was being used to help heat the house in the frigid weather, overheated. The parents were in the barn milking at the time, while the children slept in the house.

Four children escaped: Linda, 12; Lois, 11; Glen, 9; and Marlene, 8. One of the victims, Leon, had also made his way out of the house safely, but later perished when he re-entered in a futile effort to rescue his baby brother, Wilmer. His body was found by firefighters later, shielding the baby’s body.

Eleven nieces and nephews, and 11 "grands" will miss their aunt. 			Jesse Walter Wenger, 87, of Versailles, Mo., died Jan. 21, 1983, at St Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City. He was born Aug 10, 1895, near Versailles, the son of Abraham and Carrie Lehman Wenger.

			He was married Nov. 25, 1917, to Ella B. Lehman, who preceded him in death in 1964. On Nov 18, 1967, he married Ruth Edelmann Diener, who survives. He was a farmer stockman by occupation.

			In his early youth he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with the Mt. Zion Mennonite Church, of which he was a faithful member until death. In 1941 he was ordained as a deacon at the church. He served as a deacon until 1962, when his son Norman was ordained deacon.

			In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Albert, Norman and Roy, all of Versallies, and Paul of Hesston, Kan.; two daughters, Viola Ramer of Hesston and Bertha Swarr of Ramat Aviv, Israel; one brother, Daniel Wenger of Blackfoot, Idaho; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Emanuel Wenger; one daughter, Barbara May Wenger; three brothers, Edward, Okley and William Wenger, and one sister, Bessie Wenger.

			In recent years he had an interest in the movement of Mennonite people from Pennsylvania and other states to the Versailles farming community.

			Funeral services were held Jan. 23 at the Mt. Zion Mennonite Church with ministers Joe Diener, Leroy Gingerich and Jacob Flisher officiating. Hymns were sung by the men's quartet and grandsons served as casket bearers. Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Louella Mary Baer Short was born May 4, 1906, in Fulton County, Ohio. She was born again in her youth and remained a faithful member of the church until her death.

On Aug. 16, 1927, Louella was married to Dennis Short at West Liberty, Ohio, by S.E. Alguire. They moved to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1951 for health reasons. Nine years ago they were received as members of the Grace Mennonite Church in Phoenix.

She died Jan. 31, 1963, at age 76. Services were conducted by Ray L. Smee, Calvin Kennel and James Hays. Burial was at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale, Ariz.

She is survived by her husband; three sons, Herman J., Edward A. and Paul L.; one daughter, Loueen Burrows of Hesston, Kan.; two brothers, Clarence and Laurence Baer; three sisters, Cora M. Baer, Rosella Schell and Hulda Sauder; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Three sons, Alvin Daniel, Marvin Joseph and Emerson Dale, preceded her in death.

			Doylestown, Pa.— Funeral services for John C. Myers, 92, were held at the Doylestown Mennonite Church Mar. 19. He died at his home near here Mar. 15. During his 80-year membership in the local church he served as a trustee, Sunday school teacher and mission board member. He and his wife, the former Bertha Godshall, observed their 70th wedding anniversary in October 1976.

<center><h3>ALDINE GINGERICH</h3></center>

Aldine "Bill" Gingerich, 89, of Kalona, Iowa, died Aug. 21, 2005, at Pleasantview Home after a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 13, 1915, to Christian and Mary (Zehr) Gingerich near Parnell.

He attended Parnell High School. On June 20, 1937, he married Wilma Bender at West Union Mennonite Church near Parnell.

He lived and farmed in the Wellman community all of his life. He was a member of the West Union Mennonite Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.

Survivors include six children, Lucy Hostetler and her husband, Sanford, of Goshen, Ind., Linda Miller and her husband, Dale, of Kalona; Leland Gingerich and his wife, Julie, of Wellman, Frances Nafziger and her husband, Gary, of Wellman, Twila Miller and her husband, Edward, of Akron, Pa., and Brenda Stauffer and her husband, Ardell, of Akron, Pa.; a brother, Jeremiah Gingerich of Mountain Home, Idaho; and a half sister, Ruth Miller of Wellman; 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, in January 1998; a sister, Luella Blosser; a brother, Leroy Gingerich; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at West Union Mennonite Church. Burial was in the West Union Cemetery of rural Wellman.
