Michalin Formularbuch

This handwritten volume of sermons and forms of service has long been associated with the congregation currently known as Grace Hill Mennonite Church, between Newton and Whitewater, Kansas. The congregation was known as Gnadenberg in German, and migrated as a body from Michalin, in the Russian Empire, in 1874.

The introduction to the volume indicates it was written by Johann Siebert, elder of the Thiensdorf congregation in Prussia 1785-1798 (see "Thiensdorf and Preussisch Rosengart" entry in vol. 4 of Mennonite Encyclopedia). Presumably the volume was kept by family descendants or successors in ministerial office, one of whom became part of the Michalin settlement.
