Prior to 1953 there was no position of youth worker or a Youth Office. In 1955 Bill Gering began as full-time youth worker and the Youth Office was established at General Conference headquarters. Bill Ketkeman was youth worker from 1958-1959. Milton Harder was youth worker from 1959-1962. Marvin Dirks then served as youth worker until the Young People's Union was dissolved in 1969. After the dissolution, the Youth Office continued as coordinator of youth activities and concerns under the Commission on Education.
