I. General Conference 1859-1969
A. Board of Missions
15. Native American (includes Arizona, Montana, Oklahoma)
a. 1934-1961 (1.3 cu. ft.) (These are files that were transferred to the MLA at various times before 1994. Apparently these items never got incorporated into any regular filing system of the Board of Missions.)
Total volume: 1.3 cu. ft.
Note from a letter of Dale Suderman, Mennonite Voluntary Service, to Robert Kreider, MLA, 9 February 1978, in MLA files:
“RE: Sources in early GC Indian Missions
1. The El Reno Public Library has some excellent photos of H. R. Voth in the Meschberger folder. They are of unusually good quality.
2. Oklahoma State Historical Library has:
- attendance records of Mennonite Mission schools
- correspondence with Indian agents by Haury, etc.
- WPA interviews with early settlers including some by missionaries and area Mennonites.
3. Baptismal records are in Canton, Clinton, Hammon, and Seiling. I will try to obtain xerox copies.” [Presumably in this last item he means the records of the Mennonite congregations. I don’t know whether he ever got the photocopies that he mentions here.]
