Born 4 March 1909 near Hillsboro, Kansas. Parents Peter Suderman and Carolina Hein.
Attended Tabor College. Graduated from Bethel College in 1935. Master's degree in music education from George Peabody College, Nashville, Tennessee. Taught at Bethel College 1936-1976.
Married Alice Claassen in 1937.
During World War II, he was a Civilian Public Service camp director and Rocky Mountain regional director.
Doctorate in music education from George Peabody College in 1947.
Fulbright Choral Lecturer in Colombia for two years in the 1960s. Took Bethel choirs to Colombia in 1968, 1971, 1973. Took Bethel choir to Vienna, Austria, in 1975.
Began music program in Paraguayan Mennonite seminary in late 1970s.
Founding director of Kansas Mennonite Men's Chorus.
Bethel College Outstanding Alumnus Award in 1984.
Died July 4, 1990, North Newton, Kansas.
