Elbing Berechnungsbuch (OK 53) The Elbing-Ellerwald Berechnungsbuch was maintained by Jacob von Riesen and contains two different types of records. The first ninety pages cover donation income and regular expense accounts for the congregation from 1808 to 1820. Pagination starts over in the second part that lists all the households in the congregation organized in collection districts for the purpose of collecting the Cadet tax Mennonites owed the Prussian state in lieu of military service. There are ten such collections recorded on 89 pages for the years 1808 to 1816. This volume was photographed by Mark Jantzen at the Mennonitische Forschungsstelle in Weierhof in spring 2008. Posted with permission of the Forschungsstelle.
